Modern Day Soma: Marijuana is Pharmakeia, Too, You Know
Marijuana is the "green demon" in the lives of many readers - the modern Soma of Mystery Babylon. This post will explain why Jesus Christ is calling you to quit, and I tried to offer a different approach then the classic arguments we hear. Photo Credit.

Many readers have read Brave New World, but if it's been a while, or you have never read it, one of the most terrifying parts of the book, in my opinion, is the part about Soma. As a teenager, when I read it, I was truly fascinated by Soma and I wondered if the world would be like that one day. Well, I think we are there, now, in these end times.
Soma is the "all-purpose drug" in the novel that is "hangoverless." According to the linked article, "Soma is: a drug that numbs any sort of discomfort, from anxiety to stress to general uneasiness."
While not in pill form, I believe marijuana is exactly just that, though some do take it in edible form. Weed is growing in popularity, and at this point, you can smell it just about everywhere you go. In fact, I bet it is the popular choice amongst readers of this blog, and I'll explain why I feel that way in a moment.
Before I do, I want to remind everyone about my struggles with alcohol in the past. I have since conquered my addiction, but I know the pain of sobriety in these end times. This post isn't for judgement but rather to encourage self-reflection. Should Christians really be smoking weed?
Now, I said it before, and I'll say it again. We aren't legalists, and we just don't make a list of Dos and Don'ts in this blog. It is clear that Christians can enjoy a glass of wine or two, but they are not to get drunk. In the same way, perhaps some can have a hit or two of weed, but they aren't supposed to get high.
Now - how many people can really handle that? The lesson in my alcohol use is that I cannot drink even a sip. No - not even a sip - for the rest of my life. I can't handle it. To be honest, I believe demons enter me when I drink, and now that my temple is clean, many would possess me if they had the chance.
In a phone call recently, I did admit to my friend that there is some sadness in the fact that I can never drink again, some mourning. I had some great times drinking with Witness 1, playing music, singing, and dancing. However, for me, there is something really evil and demonic that is connected with alcohol, maybe even a curse, and if I drink again I think I will die.
In my recent dreams, I believe "they" have sent demons to try to get me to drink, but when I wake up in the morning, I rebuke these dreams.
Why? I had to decide that Jesus Christ was worth the sacrifice of not drinking. Remember, true love involves sacrifice, and following Christ is all about taking up our own crosses.
To prove my love for Jesus Christ, and of course my family, I had to stop drinking.
Now, if you are one of the rare people out there who can have a glass or two of alcohol and go to bed, I commend you. If you are somebody out there who can take one hit of weed and be satisfied that's great.
However, I don't think that's true for most reading, so I hope you stick around.
I've already written about drinking, so this post is going to expose marijuana and why I believe you probably need to quit. Pray about everything posted here, and let's start with one important fact. Marijuana is a form of Pharmakeia, too.
Marijuana is Pharmakeia
Most reading this blog know that the vaccine is the "pharmakeia" likely referred to in this verse where "sorcery" is used, but the Greek word is, indeed, pharmakeia (This is an intriguing article, by the way). Most readers understand that the vaccine defiles a person's temple through this sorcery.
Of course, God is so perfect and amazing, and I believe He often allows verses to take on multiple meanings. There is no doubt in my heart and mind that the world has been deceived by drug use of many kinds, especially marijuana, as well.
The meaning of the word itself is simple: the use of medicine, drugs, or spells.
Before we continue, I am not saying people can never use medicine for healing. In fact, there may be some out there using marijuana for its proper usage - healing. However, I still believe many will claim that they are using the drug for healing, but in fact, are getting super high. So, it is up to you to go to God and ask Him if your use of any drug is what He wants you to do.
We are not telling people to stop taking medications or be stupid. We are not responsible for anybody's stupidity upon reading our words. Everybody has a unique scenario and circumstances, so pray and ask Jesus Christ to guide you in the medicines you use. However, I would recommend to prepare for future medicine shortages that will likely be coming.
So, going back to the word Pharmakeia, marijuana, in all likelihood, would be considered a form of Pharmakeia. Why?
Well, to start simply, whether for medicinal or recreational drug use, both categories are Pharmakeia because there was no distinction between the two in Biblical times. In these times, marijuana is a form of Pharmakeia that deceives people. That's obvious to most, so let's move on.
Weed is also associated deeply with witchcraft, and many use it to access the spirit realm, like witches. There is also deep history of Cannabis use linked with the occult. When you get high, you may feel closer to God, but remember, Satan always imitates godliness. The problem with the high of weed, alcohol, or any drug is that the "love" you often feel is not the type of love that God promotes. It is a love without sacrifice or consequences.
When I was really drunk, I felt great! I was creative and even wrote a lot (before this blog). Yet, what I was feeling was NOT the Holy Spirit. It was an imitation of it to keep me hooked on it - to keep me coming back to it. Instead of seeking the Holy Spirit through prayer, fasting, discipline, etc., I wanted a quick and artificial fix. I felt that "love" when I was drunk, but everyone knows, it never lasts.
This is true of marijuana, too. The comedown is not fun. While there may be no hangover, as it is the modern-day Soma, you always have to go back for more. Over time, you may even have to increase your dosage.
Still, it is counterfeit, just like the movements out there on "love" like the PRIDE movements. They are all about love without boundaries or sacrifice. That is not God's view of love.
What is God's view of love? He sent His son to show us that. Jesus Christ is Love. Jesus Christ is Sacrifice. Therefore, Love is Sacrifice. In fact, I would argue that agape love is essentially sacrifice.
So, when one gets high, they feel that temporary love without any form of sacrifice. In fact, their use of weed may even be hindering their love for others, and ultimately, its use is rooted in selfishness - not sacrifice.
Recently, I was watching a Derek Prince clip, and he said at the root of any addiction is selfishness. It's the truth. As a former addict, I can vouch for this statement.
My happiness and temporary joy were more important than anything when I drank. I was selfish, and I have repented.
You may be thinking, "No - that's not me", but then I ask you to ask God to reveal the truth to you. See what He says. Is your weed or drug usage, at its core, just your self-love?
Really, when it comes down to it, our addictions are a reflection or our own idolatry. Even when we are hurting others, even when there are consequences, we don't stop. Instead, because we love ourselves so much and cannot sacrifice for others, we show God who we really love.
Even if you don't see the consequences of weed, they are there, especially spiritual. The Holy Spirit cannot dwell with you when you are high, but demons can.
Harsh words, I know. But how will I get you all to quit if I am gentle about this? Gentleness didn't work for me with my addiction, and it won't likely work for you.
Now you might be thinking, "But my weed usage doesn't hurt anyone!" Think again.
A Lazy and Apathetic Generation
The worst thing about Marijuana is how lazy and apathetic it makes everyone. The reason I claimed earlier that I think many of our readers probably smoke weed is because of the amount of inaction I see.
I will be like, "Hey, these Satanists are about to make a plan to kill everyone and behead you soon." Readers take a puff and go, "Yup, that sucks."
I'm joking a little, and don't take too much offense.
Plus, I know not all of our readers are addicted to marijuana, but I do find most reading very apathetic. I'm sorry. If that's harsh, I apologize, but it's just based on my analysis of what I see. Is it true? Prove me wrong if I'm wrong.
In the meantime, I understand we are all desensitized. We are all weary. We are all exhausted.
Just like Soma, however, marijuana pacifies the populace. Here are some quotes from Brave New World. Decide if this sounds like weed:
- "All the advantages of Christianity and alcohol; none of their defects." - Many worship Weed like they would a God. There are even churches dedicated to Cannibis. Many want God without the work - that's marijuana for you.
- "You do look glum! What you need is a gramme of soma." Weed makes people avoid reality. As I mentioned earlier, it makes people completely desensitized to the horrors around them. Note use of the word "gram."
- "A gramme is better than a damn," said Lenina mechanically from behind her hands. "I wish I had my soma!" - This is the attitude of many. It's funny, but humor is a way to cope with sorrow. Many care more about weed than they do anything else - even all of the atrocities occurring at this time.
Do you really want to exemplify a walking image of a person in Brave New World?
There are more, but I believe these quotes are a good summary. How different would our world be if people did not have drugs or alcohol to cope with their terrible realities?
When I stopped drinking, I was no longer able to avoid reality. I had to start facing the world for what it is - and it's not exactly pleasant.
However, this has brought me closer to Christ. I am not claiming I feel so great all of the time. I don't. Today I was walking to the park, and I just thought "I'm bored." Then I thought, "I have to remind readers that boredom is good for them sometimes."
So many fear boredom. You know, when you first become bored, it is scary. Your mind is racing. You don't know what to do with your thoughts.
I like to see it as a challenge. Can I control my own mind, my own thoughts? The Bible is clear that we must learn to control our own thoughts.
Besides, where do you think all my ideas from writing stem from? Well, when I have a moment of quiet and boredom, the Holy Spirit speaks to me. In fact, the Holy Spirit told me the title of this post. The reason the Holy Spirit is not speaking to many of you is because you never let yourself rest for a moment to hear it. You are always busy, always distracted, or perhaps, always high.
We cannot access the Holy Spirit if our temples are defiled. Remember, our bodies are our temples, and if you are high or drunk all the time, there is another spirit in you manipulating you - yes, even your creative projects.
It doesn't mean you should throw out everything you have ever done with alcohol or weed, but can you be creative through the Holy Spirit - through God himself - not its counterfeit?
Look, getting sober is hard. When you quit, it might take some time for your mind to reset. Most will not give themselves even a few weeks off their drug, and then, they never let those connections reform - spiritual, physical, or mental.
The first few months I was sober, I was like a zombie. I did not smile, I did not cry. I went to work, went home, and I did my duties mostly quietly. I slept a lot.
You have to give yourself and your body time to recover.
But then, one day, that spark comes back.
I'm telling you, this spark I feel is one million times better than the drunkenness I used to feel. Now, I feel like a child. I am creative. I play. I laugh. I am energized. I take on many projects. I am very close to Jesus Christ. I hear Him. I feel Him. I see Him.
If you aren't feeling that, it could be your drug usage getting in the way. If you aren't on drugs, is there something in your life that has become an idol to you? Drugs can take on many forms.
Going back to the main idea of this section, I feel like many readers have become apathetic because they are on drugs. They read our stuff, they like it, but they just never have the energy in them to actually change, participate in the fasts, or even pray.

Time is short, everyone. You cannot criticize the evil in the world if you are participating in it. Darkness and light have no communion.
For the next part of this post, we have a real testimony from our brother Garrett. I find it quite interesting marijuana can be sold just about anywhere in Mystery Babylon now, and because of this, it makes me wonder what "they" are doing to the supply. Weed is stronger than ever before, and marijuana psychosis is possible.
Garrett's Testimony
Are you smoking weed on the daily? Have you ever noticed yourself feeling a bit...funny? Perhaps you begin to miss showers more frequently, or you find yourself in a sudden bout of seclusion from others. I don't want to alarm you, but YOU COULD BE A VICTIM OF PSYCHOSIS. This little habit could become potentially life altering.
Paranoia, have you ever felt it? Have you ever had sudden ideas that someone is out to get you? Have you ever, and I mean EVER questioned if something has a "super hidden meaning" that only YOU understand? That could be the little demon we know as psychosis, a debilitating state that is almost as close to schizophrenia as you can get.
How do i know this? I've been through it! Here is a video about weed psychosis.
Now I'm not saying "run to a shrink" - not at all. I am, however, trying to show you that these altered states are an incredibly direct form of attack on your brain and something that will COMPLETELY detach you from not only yourself but from GOD. You are damaging only yourself when you indulge in this "wonder drug." Try to imagine it like this: You have a house, and that house has a front door as well as a screen door. You leave the front door open in order to hear the words of God (or the gentle swaying of trees) and are also able to communicate back. It's like having a neighbor! Then you smoke. You immediately SLAM that door not only on God, but potentially yourself too, and some never open that door ever again. [Added note from Witness 2: Or you open the door to some other entity that feels like God. Remember, even Satan disguises himself as a being of light.]
How did I come to this conclusion? Well, like I said, I've been through it. I used to smoke dab cartridges every single day, up to a gram. Don't get me started on those little edibles. They were all down the hatch.
However, one day, I woke up and felt like I was in la la land. I have a pretty bad family situation, and I used weed to cope with it. I remember one day it got especially bad, and I got so bothered that I began to bawl my eyes out (not common). You may say that is normal, however, do you follow heavy tears with maniacal laughter? I did. For. No. Reason. Whatsoever. It only got worse from there.
I began having delusions (common). I thought that my own dad was God and that my mother was a vessel of evil. It got to the point where I thought my mom was trying to kill me! (Paranoia). I began hearing things that weren't there, my ex-girlfriend, to be exact. It was the most terrifying experience I've ever had. I was hospitalized for it. Guess what you can't do in a psych ward? Smoke. That was the only change. I stopped smoking, and after a few months of pure dedication, I felt and am feeling back to normal.
I believe if you're struggling with this addiction (which is what it is), you CAN escape. Like I said, a shrink isn't necessary, but belief in GOD is a must. He will show you the straight and narrow road to freedom and sobriety.

Conclusion
Thank you, Garrett, for sharing your honest testimony. Don't think it could never happen to you. I used to think that with alcohol, I'd always be functioning, until I was not. That's the thing about the demon - it sneaks up on you. It keeps you comfortable until it comes to snatch your soul.
In these end times, people have been deceived by Pharmakeia on many levels. Anybody who vilifies those who took the vaccine and then participates in other forms of sorcery is a hypocrite. This post isn't just about weed, as many reading are addicted to prescription pills, alcohol, and more.
The reason I chose weed for this post, however, is I believe that it is one of the most dangerous drugs. Like Soma, there is little physical or mental consequences. Most can smoke it daily, and they are fine. There are no hangovers.
However, the spiritual consequences are what you need to consider. Can you sacrifice your idol of Marijuana for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
He is calling you back to Him.
