Why You (likely) Hate Everything and Are Miserable
The end of this post is hopeful, so read to the end.

I just started a "Daniel's Fast", and I felt full of the holy spirit, and an answer came to me regarding the above Reddit post.
The answer to that question is because everything, and I mean practically everything, is a lie.
Let's examine this.
You wake up in the morning to get ready for work. Chances are, if you're a woman, you have to do your hair and put on make-up, the first lie you tell for the day. Your natural self isn't allowed, and men, though you may not put on make-up, you still have to dress a certain way and give an impression.
Look, you can't give the impression you're hungover or only slept a few hours. You can't give the impression you hate your job. Or, even if you like your job, you can't give an impression that would "give off" any strange vibe about you.
Think Winston in 1984. He had to be very careful of anyone suspecting he thinks differently, and you do, too.
If you don't work, you are one of the lucky ones, but most reading probably do.
Then, throughout the day, you turn on the radio in your car or hear the background music at some store and notice it's been recycled. What I mean is pop music is essentially dead, and it seems like everyone is out of ideas. You may have your own music you listen to that isn't dead, but you make sure nobody around you hears it as they just wouldn't understand it.
If you work, you let everyone know you're doing great. You smile. You do your job. You check your phone occasionally and watch the clock. You wonder, is there something more I could be doing with my life?
For the lucky non-workers, you go to the store and notice you are basically in Zombieland. You'll be lucky if someone strikes up a conversation with you or gives you a smile. You'll be lucky if you don't get in a car accident on the way home, due to the careless and aggressive drivers who don't really care about anything anymore.
When you get some down time, you notice you're lonely. Sure, you have family and friends, but can you really talk to them about anything real? When you bring up anything slightly real, people get a little uncomfortable and you have to remember to check yourself. Don't bring up those conspiracy topics you research late at night, right?
Some of you are lucky to be happily married, but unfortunately, statistics show many reading aren't as happy as they may appear on social media. This is not a judgment zone - so please don't take it that way.
Many have lost their partner to political ideologies, unfortunately, and they can't bring up things they really want to talk about. Some have given up on finding a man or woman altogether. What's the point? Nobody even wants to have children anymore, or maybe they just don't see any point in bringing children into this evil world.
So, when you get your downtime, you likely spend it on your phone or the internet, only to read lie after lie in the media. Nothing presented is really true, and you do your best to find sites like ours for some refreshment. Even your favorite places to read have been taken over by censorship, shills, and just pure aggressiveness. You can't say what you really think and you really don't have time to get another angry message that brings you down.
Then, you may try to watch some "entertainment", and just like the poster mentioned above, it all just seems like complete garbage. The only way you can slightly enjoy it is through your weed, alcohol, pills, or your drug of choice, but that is even a bigger lie.
Because chances are, if you're reading this, you may struggle a bit with sober reality. You want to be sober so badly, but you're so miserable. Again, this isn't a judgment zone, as more Americans suffer from addiction than you could ever realize.
Some of you are "functional" though, and you work, wake up, come home and eat, and drown in your entertainment and drug of choice. You do this every single day, and you know how soul-crunching and empty it is, but you don't see a way out. I mean, what can you do to change the world anyway? It's all going to hell.
Perhaps you try to update your social media to look happy, or maybe you like to browse all of the fake happy people out there on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook, desperately trying to hang on to their youth or relive their youth in some way. How many reels are you going to view about nostalgia in the 90s again tonight?
Then, there is the porn and masturbation, which is also fake, but it satisfies that temporary desire. It doesn't really help you, but again, you feel trapped in your own prison, and you need that relief.
You want that love so badly, but the world is more soulless and loveless than ever. People are just lovers of themselves, and they don't have the energy to love you as much as they love themselves.
The hardest part of it all, though, is just how everyone is so content with this fake world. The lies are accepted, and no matter how much evidence you present to people, the cognitive dissonance and programming take over.
You start to think, "Am I the only one out there? Am I the only one who feels this way?"
The answer to this is...no you are not.
Now, even if you are reading this and thinking, "Well I'm happy or I can't relate to this" - then I'm not sure how you ended up on this site in the first place.
For most reading, we see the emptiness of this world. We see the misery. That is why we cling to Jesus Christ so greatly - He is the only one who gives us true joy and contentment.
So, if I could answer that Redditor form above, I would tell them the reason you are bored and unhappy with everything is because it is ALL a lie! Many come to a realization that all is essentially meaningless, and then, maybe, just maybe, you open up your Bible to see that God was already trying to tell you this!
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”
Yet, the truth is, if you follow the world, then, yes, your life is a meaningless lie, but if you choose Jesus Christ, and truly follow Him, then your life begins to have meaning again.
Many of you come to this page exactly at that point. You realized it was all a lie, and now you want to escape that lie!
Your life, until you find Jesus Christ, essentially is full of lies. You can only know the truth when you find Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the truth.
And only the truth can set you free from this misery.
Freedom from Misery
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who confess Jesus Christ with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him.
For one, many believe in a fake Jesus! They can't handle the real Jesus, so they created a lying one, that tells people everything is grand and great and everything will always go your way:

Most of the phrases above aren't really biblical. If you truly follow Jesus:
- You will probably not be "great" in this world, but you will be great for God.
- You will likely be unfavored by the world.
- You will know much failure and suffering in the world.
- You may labor in what seems to be vain.
- You will not always be considered the "best of them" but rather "the least of them."
I don't think many people like this message - the truth!
So, unfortunately, many are claiming to follow the truth and are living a lie. They have created another type of Jesus to fit into their fake world. They can't stand the truth, so they are following another Jesus and another spirit.
But, I'm going to tell you right now, if you follow the Bible as it is - not by listening to man but truly by reading the Word and being guided by the Holy Spirit, your life will start to change.
It doesn't mean your life will be easier, but rather, your life will have true purpose and feel meaningful again.
I am here to tell you that the only way to be truly free from the misery is to not only accept Jesus Christ, but also FOLLOW Him - that is the second part people like to ignore.
How do we follow Jesus Christ?
Jesus Was a Servant, and You Should Be, too
When Jesus came, he served. He healed, helped, listened, gave, and saved. He was always in service. He wasn't rich. He didn't have a notable appearance per se, as the Bible barely even mentioned His appearance. He didn't worry about career accomplishments or worldly success.
Do you serve others or yourself?
Did you know that study after study on happiness shows that helping others is key? Time calls it "the secret to happiness."
While when you follow Christ, you won't always be "happy", you will find great joy in serving and helping others.
Ever since I truly started following Jesus Christ, I realized my life was empty without helping others.
Yes, unfortunately, when you help others, they may not appreciate it. They may take advantage. They may even mock you!
But it is all worth it if we are doing it for Jesus Christ.
The rewards on Earth will be few, but we will be storing up great treasure in heaven.
So, don't let anyone steal your crown! Though you may be tired and weary, when you start living for Christ, everything changes.
If you don't know how to start living for Christ, start by the two most important commandments:
1) Love God with all your heart.
2) Love others as yourself.
If you truly love God, you will ask Him to help you love others. And if you want to show your love for others, serve them!
Starting now, start thinking - what can I do to help someone else? Maybe you can donate to a small ministry, even if just a few dollars. Maybe you can text someone some encouragement. Maybe you can share the gospel. Maybe you can smile at someone. Maybe you can do that thing for your partner you've avoiding. Maybe you can be nice to that person who hates you at work. Maybe you can let go of that grudge and forgive someone. Maybe you can thank God. Maybe you can give some homeless person some food. Maybe you can start serving others right now.
Looking for ideas? Join us in an upcoming fast this Wednesday! Through these fasts, we can help answer prayers.
When you truly start living for Christ, every moment is an opportunity to serve Him, and therefore, others.
And this is the key to...peace and joy.
I hope this uplifts someone reading,
